Lora Boyd Whigham Library

The Lora Boyd Whigham Memorial Library is located in the center of Hooper Academy and is open to all students in kindergarten through the twelfth grade.  The lower school classes have weekly scheduled library visits and they are welcome to come back during the week to get additional books.  Upper school students are allowed to come during the school day as their schedule permits.

Students in the first through eighth grades participate in Accelerated Reader.  Students in the first through sixth grades are encouraged to reach a reading goal that has been set with their individual abilities considered.  At the end of each nine weeks, they have an opportunity to use their AR points and purchase items at the AR store which is located in the lunchroom.  Seventh and eighth grade students’ goals are established by their English teacher. 

The library is open from 7:40 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Monday through Friday.
