Hooper Academy Dress Code

Dress Code: Grades K5-5th Grades
Students are expected to maintain themselves in a well-groomed manner and be neatly dressed at all times. Any form of hairstyle which is considered contrary to good hygiene, or which is distractive or disruptive in appearance and/or detrimental to the purpose or conduct of the school will not be permitted (ex: no different colored hair, no Mohawks, etc.). Clothing with suggestive writing, pictures, or logos will not be allowed. Athletic shorts are not allowed during the regular school hours.


Boys: Boys may wear long pants or shorts as long as the pants/shorts do not have any holes. All shirts must have sleeves no muscles shirts are allowed. See through shirts are not allowed. Shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing must be size appropriate, neat, and clean.  Unless the construction of clothing prevents it, boys are required to wear belts. Hair must be no longer than the bottom of the collar, at least level with the ears and out of the eyes and face. Boys may not wear earrings or any other type piercings.


Girls: Girls may wear long pants or shorts as long as the pants/shorts do not have any holes. See through shirts are not allowed. Dresses/shorts may be worn but no shorter than four (4) inches above the crease of the back of the knee. Shorts/bloomers may be worn under the dresses for play time/PE. Tube-tops are not permitted. Shirts worn with leggings must cover the entire hip area.  Shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing must be size appropriate, neat, and clean. Hair should be worn away from the face and out of the eyes. Girls are not allowed to have different colored hair except for days that express permission is given for school events (ex: during pep rallies, spirit days, etc.). Girls are not allowed to have any visible piercings other than earrings.

Boys: Boys may wear long pants or shorts as long as the pants/shorts do not have any holes. Shorts are to be no more than four (4) inches above the knee. All shirts must have sleeves no muscles shirts are allowed. See through shirts are not allowed.  Unless the construction of clothing prevents it, boys are required to wear belts. Shoes are to be worn at all times. Clothing must be size appropriate, neat, and clean. Sweatpants, sweat-suits, or baggy/saggy pants are not allowed. Athletic shorts are not allowed during the regular school hours, with the exception of PE.  Hair must be no longer than the bottom of the collar, at least level with the ears and out of the eyes and face. Boys may not wear earrings or any other type piercings. No tattoos should be visible. Students may not attend school, participate in events and/or activities with: (a) Facial hair below the lobe of the ear and/or below the nose, (b) Spiked and/or other non-traditional hairstyles deemed inappropriate by state officials, and (c) Unnatural and/or non-traditional coloration of the hair. These are AISA rules as well as Hooper Academy rules.

 

Girls: Girls may wear long pants or shorts as long as the pants/shorts do not have any holes. Shorts must not be shorter than four (4) inches above the knee. Skirts must not be shorter than four (4) inches above the knee. Dresses may be worn but no shorter than four (4) inches above the knee. See through shirts are not allowed. Blouses may be worn, not tucked in, with a sash or belt, but the length of the blouse must reach below the top of the pants/skirt. All tops, including the tops of dresses, must have at least three (3) inch straps on the shoulders. Shirts worn with leggings must cover the entire hip area.  Shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing must be size appropriate, neat, and clean. Sweatpants, sweat-suits, or baggy/saggy pants are not allowed. Pajama pants are not permitted. Tube-tops, halter tops, are not permitted. Athletic shorts are not allowed during the regular school hours, with the exception of PE. Hair should be worn away from the face and out of the eyes. Students in violation of the Hooper Academy dress code will not be warned or given a second chance concerning proper attire/dress for attendance. There will be no exceptions. Students will be sent home. Driving students in violation of the dress code will be sent home immediately and will receive a zero (0) for all missed classes. Non-driving students will immediately go to in-school detention until appropriate clothing is made available. Those students in in-school suspension due to dress code violations will receive a zero (0) for all missed classes.


The Hooper Academy dress code will be enforced for all school sponsored events or extracurricular activities whether this event takes place at Hooper Academy or off campus. Any event where Hooper Academy is in attendance at another location or school not directly sponsored by Hooper Academy, all Hooper Academy students shall maintain the Hooper dress code. If a student and/or parent questions the ability to wear an article of clothing to Hooper, do not wear it until the clothing is approved by the administration. Any student in continuous, direct violation of the Hooper Academy dress code is subject to suspension.
